This unique and complex project transformed an existing 3-story public school structure into a new town hall — renovating a 28,000 sf building that dates back to the early 1900s. The multiple aspects of this project included replicating the exterior façade to construct a matching 16,000 sf youth services center. The brick façade of the existing building was cleaned, repaired for leaks and repointed. Existing double-hung wood windows were replaced, and a new floor system was installed on the original existing bar joists.
In addition to new EPDM roofing installations, the existing slate roof was removed and replaced with simulated slate shingles. Existing wood gutters were repaired and lined with copper. The work on this project also included new entrance doors, ADA-compliant improvements, selective demolition, and a new municipal records storage vault. Carlin Construction also installed new finishes including ACT and VCT, while installing new HVAC and electrical systems — including all associated piping and requirements per code. The entire facility was completed more than a month ahead of schedule
